Hello, my name is Varshith and you might remember me from when I bought your book in the Nantwich Library. I really liked the book and the story about Tad and how it both parts join together at the end of the book. Also, the concept is also very different to any other books I’ve read. I can’t wait for the sequel to this book.

A lovely book, smashing and now sharing with my school mates in County Meath. Hope David does a follow up as it’s such a great read. Thanks Mum & Dad xx

Bought the book for daughters 7th birthday which ended up going round the house with my family of five! Lovely, well thought out story. Made a pleasant change from assorted books about exaggerated acronism illnesses, addiction and pc problems; a proper children’s and nice family read. Thanks David xx Look forward to seeing Soap!

Well David… such a long time since schooldays but The Mystery of Cloverdaisy Cottage was well worth the wait. Where have you been hiding all these years? Northwich Library put me on to this last month and I’ve since seen your excellent web site. We have just finished the book which I read my three grandchildren over 2 weekends. They like me were spellbound and are wondering what comes next? A terrific story and superb drawings. Helen tells me you have The Magical Soap out during Whitsun which we will look out for. Well done lad. You always had it in you!

Have now received and read “The Mystery of Cloverdaisy Cottage”. Indeed I read it in one sitting so carried along by it.

I loved the story and particularly the idea of a story within a story and how the two came together. I enjoyed the characters – particularly amused by Ferocious Fiona who became less so. I also loved the illustrations (by Jim Crawley) – the loft ones being especially atmospheric.

As well as being excellent in its own right, there is a super raft of messages.

Thank you so much for sending me a copy

We bought this to give the grand kids for Christmas in Chester from the author who we got talking to in Chester Cathedral… Glad I didn’t wrap it up straight away! It’s a delightful, well presented book. A lovely story with superb drawings and plenty of drama. Even my husband read it!

For a debut children’s work the author has captured life well combining his own special talent with touches of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Merlin and a bit of Roald Dahl. It is very educational too and the ‘book within a book concept’ is brilliantly portrayed. Loads of magical fun, mystic adventure, sadness, humour and most of all love. It is also a great ‘family read’.

Very heart warming, with a wonderful twist at the end. A must for any Christmas box, birthdays or simply all year round!

We’ll be discussing this further at our first meeting in the New Year.

Beautifully written, imaginative and full of everything you could wish for in a Year 2/3 learning book. The Author is clearly a talented ‘wordsmith’ and delivers his craft well. I am particularly pleased at the way the story is presented, especially the ‘book within a book’ concept which works very well. A highly recommended read for 5-8 year olds. Will more than hold its own against more established works and authors. The end bit will get children excited and… thinking… An excellent read.

I have never read a children’s book so quickly but was delighted to be asked and was not disappointed.

It’s a delightful read. Full of life, fun, adventure and all things spooky and magic. I mean talking frogs and animals? and two school girl friends on a creepy mission…through a haunted farmhouse loft? Come on…wonderful idea. Works very well as two books in one. Reminded me of growing up…Alice in Wonderland. Wind in the Willows, Roald Dahl and all that.

For a debut children’s book the author has pitched very well… superb. Would do well in the schools and make a good Xmas box!

I collaborated with David on this since February 2017 and therefore got to know the whole story intimately. Despite the vested interest it has been a real pleasure and joy working with him and finally seeing the ‘fruits of our labours’ out there on the book shelves!

A wonderful children’s read and full of everything you could wish for in a book of this nature. Fun, laughter, love, adventure and excitement plus a wealth of magic, spookiness and talking frogs! Very good educational literature and great concept of a ‘book within a book’ which works extremely well.

It would easily rank alongside more established children’s authors of this genre and not be out of place as a Top 10 seller!

He also has a follow up in the New Year with the ‘Magical Soap’ story poem which I was also commissioned to do.

I wish him well with this, his debut children’s book. Deserves every success. A very passionate, committed author who is extremely thorough and amusing!

Absolutely loved it…a delightful read! I am a Primary school English teacher in Nantwich and Crewe – Years 2, 3 & 4 and also write myself.

The book is superbly written and well balanced in terms of learning, fun, adventure and love. Wonderfully written and well suited genre for 5-7 year olds. Even ‘tried it’ on my bright 4 1/2 year old daughter who was spell bound despite the more ‘advanced’ English.

I adore the concept of a ‘book within a book’ which works very well for such an exciting dual purpose story. It is well presented and paced and very educational too. It is clear that the author draws from his own experiences past and present, particularly the historical and geographical concepts.

The book would sit quite comfortably amongst the more established children’s authors and is worthy of close attention… Also warrants serious merit for established National curriculum reading and referencing through the National Association for the Teaching of English. It is that good. The illustrations are also brilliant and worthy of mention in their own right.

Pure delight… an absolute joy. Well done Mr. Yearsley!

Bought for my 8 year old granddaughters Christmas box. She is an avid and voracious reader for her age and well advanced to at least middle grade according to her primary teachers. I was therefore pleasantly surprised that she not only read it in one go but rated it very highly and asked me to thank the author; reckoned it compared very well to other more established writers but just as good! She was even precocious enough but polite to ask – and suggest ‘ending’ ideas – when the sequel would be available! Apparently there will be one but next year. She thought Jim Crawley’s drawings were amazing too and asked me to tell David that as well. I love watching her concentrate quietly as she is so intense and captivated with whatever she’s reading. I gather his as yet unheard of ‘Conker Tree Kids’ series currently being written-9-12 year olds- should be off the ‘writing board’ by the year end. I am intrigued as he tells me it’s like a junior version/mix of ‘League of Gentlemen, The Bash Street Kids and the Young One’s… oh heck. Can’t wait! Bless you David. Shame it’s taken so long to get going as I know you’ve wanted to write seriously since your Law college days… Never too late my friend and I know you are making up for lost time. Good luck with further attempts to get a main stream publisher or Agent… you will. You’re too good not to as is your illustrator!
