It is appropriate to remind us of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 – “summers lease”…
Which signifies the fleeting nature of summer, implying that summer’s beauty and warmth are temporary, like a lease that has a limited duration. The line “And summer’s lease hath all too short a date” emphasizes that summer, despite its appealing qualities, is destined to end quickly.
The sonnet contrasts the fleeting nature of summer with the enduring beauty of the person being addressed. The speaker suggests that while summer’s beauty fades, the beauty of the person in the poem will be preserved through his verses.
Well, it’s taken me 3 attempts since early June to compose this so I’m not leaving now until the last line is written!
Things are going extremely well with the new publishers, Grosvenor House Publishing who are an absolute joy to deal with and most professional. Quite a contrast to the publishing scam I was subjected to during the last 12 months from the other {fraudulent} outfit!
That is now the past and well and truly buried even though it cost me more in (emotional) lost time than money.
Very pleased to announce therefore that ‘Cloverdaisy 2’ – the short title- is about to roll off the printing line any day now; great news but not exactly a cause celebre-more a relief!
Now to the other literary ‘masterpiece’ that got left behind in the melee…’Richer not Poorer – Death was the Start’. The complete script is now with the same publishers to begin what will be a marathon copy editing and proofreading process. All being well I’m hoping that will reach fruition late summer/early autumn but at least the session has started; at last! I’m quite excited by it and hope it will rival ‘Grantchester & ‘Father Brown’ being of the same genre. It would be ripe for a film or TV series. Previous readers of my www might remember how long it took to write and what I went through before the end. As ever watch this space for announcements or via Facebook.
Ah well the drum roll has started for the ‘cue’ to take my ‘place’ at our annual (Moulton village) Crow fair… a tradition which goes back decades and is quite a spectacle.
Enjoy rest of the summer and moreover the same with your own lives. See you again early autumn.
